Following the terrible accident which knocked the city of Beirut, the FIPJP wishes to join in the pain of its inhabitants, in particular of our Petanque players friends in the Lebanese capital, some having been severely affected. Present last October for the first Beirut International, President Azéma was also invited by the leaders of the young national Petanque federation to go and plant the FIPJP cedar in the ancestral forest of Barouk, at a hundred kilometers far from the city. Traditional and symbolic gesture in this mountain range where many specimens of this tree, a true symbol of Lebanon, are several hundred years old. It is therefore natural that the friendship thus sealed on the ground, should manifest concretely in such dramatic circumstances.
